I have a new piece up on New England Review Digital. I grew up in West Virginia and was surrounded by country music and the lives that inspired a lot of the songs. I couldn’t wait to get away, but of course the faster you run, the closer you get to home. I read somewhere once that you can only get about 12,000 miles from home while still being on the Earth. At some point, I think I got this distance from country music, and now it looks like I’m heading back towards it again, but this time I (mostly) like it, thanks to groups like The Sweetback Sisters.
While you’re on the site, check out some of the other posts, particularly the one by Alexandra Teague.
